I love the Training Young Hearts series for kids. These are concrete, practical, gospel-centered books that will help young children make meaningful connections. What great resources for parents and educators!
I am incredibly excited about these new books from Abbey Wedgeworth. Engaging, helpful, and full of truth, these books are sure to become a favorite in your home!
One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of Godās grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.
As a mom, I love books that can help me guide my toddlerās behaviors back to the gospel. Your Magnificent Mouth is a practical book for parented and a fun, truth-filled rhyming book for kids.
The story relates our mouth and speech back to the speech and mouth of God and Jesus in a way that is easy for children to grasp.
I have found these books to be extremely timely and helpful in the shepherding of our little ones hearts. I have three children under 6 and so sometimes, mouths arenāt doing what Iād hope theyād be doing. These books have been just the tool weāve (long) needed to bring a visual to the conversations we are consistently having around thinking of others and using our bodies to glorify God. Thank you Abbey for creating these incredibly practical tools which point our childrenās hearts to Jesus and all he has done for them.
The books go through the power that our mouth holds, how God used His mouth to create the world, that Jesus was once a child like them and that because of his loving sacrifice for us, we can say sorry and ask for his help. A wonderfully positive and clear message for our little ones. All with the highly engaging, bright illustration. āŗļø
Our family owns all the books from the Training Young Hearts series and they're our toddler's favourite books. I'm so grateful for Abbey's fun-filled and engaging books that point little ones (and adults!) to Jesus! The new Your Magnificent Mouth/Hands books have been so helpful for even my older kids (up to 8 years old) to connect the gospel with the way they choose to use their body parts, and help them see how perfect our Lord is and that we can always find forgiveness and help in Him when we fail. I love Abbey's biblical training refrains, which I find I often use in the home now to help my children choose how to use their hands/mouths/feet/eyes/ears to glorify God. Thank you for yet another enjoyable resource!
Note: I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This is such a cute book for kids. By encouraging to use your words/mouth to lift each other up and for Godās purpose, itās a great teaching tool.
Iāve already read it to one of my kiddos, and he loved it! The pictures are too cute, and they do a great job at visualizing what is written. And the message provided a chance discuss how we can use our words positively. It sparked many conversations.
Overall, I really enjoyed it, and itās great for littles. It was a joy to read, and weāre looking forward to many more rereads!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, received from @thegoodbookcompanyusa . However, all thoughts and views reflected are strictly my own opinions.
Delightful and diverse illustrations with easy rhymes for kids to learn about all the good things God has created our mouths to do, those things we ought not to do, and bringing it home to the most important thing - what Jesus has done for us. The focus on heart change over behavior change is something I think is important to discuss with kids and also greatly lacking in childrenās literature. This is a great addition to the āTraining Young Heartsā series and I love to see more gospel-centered books on the market for children. I love the clear presentation of the gospel and also particularly enjoy the second to last page with the kids playing in the park with lots of word bubbles that show words we ought to be saying as we interact.
The only slight negative Iād give to this book is the picture at the beginning of the book when theyāre in the movie theater and the 2 adults are kissing. I wouldāve preferred a picture with something along the lines of the the family in their home and it was clear that it was a mom and dad kissing and not strangers you may be sitting with at a movie theater. This picture was just a little off for me.
A fun and informative book that explores the many ways God designed our mouths to workāfrom speaking and tasting to singing and sharing His truth. Packed with engaging facts and a biblical perspective, it fosters curiosity and gratitude for Godās creation.
We love the Training Young Hearts series and are stoked that there are more to share!
Your Magnificent Mouth is so sweet, colourful, fun and accessible. We love the rhyme format of this new series and love how faithfully these books encourage gospel-focused godliness, steeped in grace. I really haven't seen another kid's book so faithfully grasp and teach the Spirit's work in this! I find myself refreshed each time I read them.
Kids will learn to imitate Christ with their magnificent mouths in this engaging new rhyming book from the Training Young Hearts series.
My daughter and I always enjoy reading books from this series. Sheās six so these books are perfect for her age-range, but she still asks for the lift-the-flap board books too. The illustrations are vibrant and eye-catching, and the text rolls easily off the tongue, making it fun to read-aloud. We always get silly with the text and overemphasize the bolded words. āYour mouth can SING! It can whisper and SHOUT!ā
While kids will learn about all the magnificent things their mouths can do (like play the kazoo and lick ice cream), they will also learn how much power their mouths can have, especially when used in a way that God did not intend: āWe might use them to lie, scream, be rude or unkind.ā But the book doesnāt leave us there, it shares the good news in a way that is comprehensible for all ages. āGod knew weād mess up⦠so he sent his Son, Jesus, so we could be saved!ā
Jesus used His mouth only for good, and we should too! So use your mouth to spread the magnificent news of our Savior, āand sing and shout for Jesus, whose love and power NEVER end!ā
*I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
Following the same structure as āYour Amazing Handsā this book details all the ways we can use our mouths for good: for singing, eating, laughing and more. It also shares the ways that our mouth can be used for things it isnāt meant for⦠lying, saying unkind words, screaming, etc.
These books have been such a blessing in our home, providing practical talking points for addressing behaviors and teaching my kids how God desires us to use our bodies.
Every book in this series includes the gospel message: how when we choose to use our mouth (or hands or eyes or ears etc.) in ways that donāt glorify God, we can confess our sin and know that He came to save and redeem us, offering Himself in our place.
The illustrations in these books are always so darling; the characters are diverse, inclusive and such a picture of the beauty in how God designed every child.

Your Magnificent Mouth by Abbey Wedgeworth is a beautiful, gospel-centered book that helps young children understand the impact of their words in a simple yet powerful way. Through engaging rhymes and bright, captivating illustrations, this book makes the big truths of Scripture accessible to little hearts.
I love how it not only teaches that our words have real powerāto heal or to harmābut also points kids to Jesus as the perfect example of how to use them well. It reassures them that theyāre not alone in this journey, encouraging them to seek Godās help through the Holy Spirit.
This book is going to be perfect for my four-year-old! The rhyming text keeps little ones engaged, and the message is something weāll come back to again and again in our home. I also love that itās part of the Training Young Hearts series, which means weāll have more resources to continue these important conversations as my child grows. Highly recommend for families looking to instill biblical truths in a fun and meaningful way!
