This book follows on from the toddler books by Abbey (”What are hands/eye/mouths/ears for"). It is aimed at kids aged 3+ but I think it would work all the way through early years and key stage one. It follows the format of previous books by detailing all the positive things we can do with our hands and also that God created our hands. Then it moves on to some of the negative ways hands can be used, introducing God’s plan to save us from our destructive or hurtful behaviours – Jesus. It outlines some of Jesus' miracles and how he ...welcomed everyone. Then it goes on to explain Jesus’ death, rising again and the Holy Spirit. The book is written in rhyme, which tends to help truths sink in. The illustration is beautiful and diverse. It is the kind of book which would be used time and time again in helping children understand their behaviour and that of their peers - and most importantly speaks great truth to them about being forgiven and loved.
