Endorsements

This accessible devotional book helps us to experience a daily delight in discovering how our story connects with the ongoing story of Christ and all he is doing in the world. By drawing on contemporary examples from everyday life and words of worship from believers across the centuries, Tim Chester highlights passages of Scripture that challenge us with the down-to-earth implications of living lives that are centred upon Christ.

John Russell Pastor, Cornerstone Church, Nottingham

Anyone used to the sometimes trite and superficial comments in a daily devotional is in for a rude awakening with Tim Chester's Advent devotional The One True Story. In characteristic fashion, Chester blends profound Biblical insight with in-depth theology, heart warming illustration and relevant application. One day all daily devotionals will be built like this (we hope!) Until then, I heartily suggest you give Tim Chester's a try

Greg Downes Theologian and Missioner. The Belfrey, York.

Every year our advent candle builds expectation for Christmas, but it burns down to nothing. This wonderful book will create expectation and leave you feeling moved, joyful, thankful and awestruck. You will not be empty-handed or empty-hearted after spending a month with these devotions. Along the way, you will learn to see the riches of Christ in the Old Testament and feel a fresh impetus to see centrality of the story of Jesus in the pages of your Bible.

5.00 stars A Fabulous Read

I am already a great fan of Tim Chester’s work especially his Advent and Lent readings. This book is surely one of his best. He takes us through many of the familiar stories by of the Old Testament and shows how they fit into the one great story which runs through scripture - the story of creation, fall, redemption and new creation. I have been a Christian for over forty years and yet I learned many new things from this study. It made my heart sing. Thank you Tim Chester.

5.00 stars Great intro to the Christmas Season

I bought this book a couple of years ago, not having done an advent devotional before. Found this book a great intro to the christmas season and preparing for Christmas. Enjoyed how it took me through Old Testament. Thought it was so good, I bought it for friends and family this year.

4.00 stars Well worth purchasing!

I wanted a book that would give me a fresh perspective on Christmas and cut through all the commercialism and provide a little oasis from all the busyness. For me, this book does that. I try to start the day with it but if I miss one, unlike other reading materials it makes me feel that I need to catch up quickly!
It’s thought provoking and beautifully dove tails Old Testament events with Jesus.
Each reading starts with a direct question or comment to the reader which draws you in. And as you read on, you feel Tim is in ...
