A true tale of forgiveness and courageous missionary work, the story of Elisabeth Elliot shows kids that God is always with them, even when things are hard.

I received Elisabeth Elliot compliments of The Good Book Company in exchange for my honest review.
Elisabeth Elliot is a lovely picture book dedicated to the life and legacy of Elisabeth Elliot, and it's one of the latest additions to the Do Great Things for God series. The book is written by Elisabeth's biographer, Ellen Vaughn, and she does an excellent job of sharing Elisabeth's story.
Elisabeth lived a life marked by radical obedience, and while her story is not prescriptive, I'm thankful it has been recorded in this picture book so children can be encouraged to consider what radical obedience Christ might be calling them to. I like how frequently the book mentions Jesus and includes one of Elisabeth's favorite Bible verses.
The book concludes with questions to prompt further discussion, a timeline of the events of Elisabeth's life, and a link to free resources for children that go along with the book. We enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to see what comes next in this series!
What makes this book especially powerful is that it doesn’t simply tell children about Elisabeth’s bravery; it points them to the source of that courage. Her story becomes a tangible picture of what it looks like to follow Jesus when obedience is difficult, to forgive when forgiveness feels impossible, and to trust that God is present even in frightening and painful circumstances. The emphasis on forgiveness and sharing the gospel gives children much more than an interesting biography; it gives them an example of what Christlike love can look like in real life.
This is such a meaningful addition to the Do Great Things for God series. I love books that introduce my girls to women of faith who didn’t live ordinary, comfortable lives, but instead trusted God and followed Him wherever He called them. Elisabeth Elliot’s story gives children a powerful example of courage, sacrifice, forgiveness, and faithfulness, and ultimately points them back to Jesus.
This is another wonderful addition to the Do Great Things for God series! My daughters have enjoyed many of the books in this collection, but Elisabeth Elliot quickly became a favorite in our home.
The story introduces young readers to Elisabeth's life as a missionary and beautifully highlights her remarkable example of forgiveness after the death of her husband, Jim Elliot. While written in a way that is appropriate for children, it doesn't shy away from the truth of her ...story and continually points readers back to Christ.
The engaging illustrations and accessible storytelling sparked so much curiosity in my girls that they immediately asked to read the book again and wanted to learn even more about Elisabeth Elliot's life and missionary work. As a homeschool mom, I love when a book inspires that kind of excitement to dig deeper into church history.
I also appreciate the free companion resources available through The Good Book Company, making this an excellent addition to homeschool, family devotions, Sunday school, or church libraries. Highly recommended!
