If it looks like a Christmas book and if it sounds like a Christmas book, then it surely must be a Christmas book! But itโs even more than that. Let Earth Receive Her King shows us how the Christmas story explains Godโs purposes from the dawn of time to the end of history. And it wouldnโt be an Alistair Begg book if it didnโt also show us how that story provides answers to the deepest needs of our hearts. Reading these pages will surely help all of us have a better Christmas. But I for one wouldnโt be surprised if it helps some readers have their best Christmas ever.
Thereโs no better or more faithful companion than Alistair Begg to widen your gaze and deepen your understanding so that you will be glad to โprepare Him room.โ These devotions are full of scriptural insight and refreshment that will enhance and enrich your Christmas season.
In this just-right book for daily reading during the Advent season, Alistair Begg presents the compelling story of the need for Jesus, the coming of Jesus, and the beauty of Jesus that runs from Genesis to Revelation.
Love this book! The author has excellent insight into some of the favorite advent scriptures, like Isaiah 9 and others. I have definitely been blessed reading this!
I found it to be a very helpful book to read throughout Advent and enabled me to focus on what Christ's birth is all about rather than all the other preparations for Christmas. I liked having a carol at the end of each day's reading and enjoyed singing them.
I really really enjoyed this Advent book. I'm alway on the hunt for the perfect one.
It's short, easy to read, and one continual thought or theme to carry throught the day. This time of month can be so busy and it just feel like "one more thing." This book was enjoyable and at the same time kept focusing my heart back to the meaning of this time of year.
I really enjoyed how Begg conitnued the hope that we have at the end of the book. Christmas season doesn't just end because December is over. We have much to look forward to!

Loved this advent book! It covers Genesis to Revelation and it was just a beautiful picture of Jesus throughout the bible during the advent season.
This is an excellent book to carry you through advent. As one would expect with Alastair Begg, great doctrine, pastorally presented. a wonderful way to start the day in advent. I will be sorry when we have finished the book.
I love how beautiful the cover of this book is, but even more so the rich gospel truths that pour from every page. Alistair writes in his familiar style of ease, clarity, and gospel-saturation. This is a great daily read for Advent as Alistair shares Godโs redemptive story from Genesis through Revelation. This is everything youโd want and expect in an Advent devotional - Scripture, wisdom from a trusted theologian, reflection questions, and a hymn for each dayโs reading. I got 2 days into reading this book before I ordered another copy to gift to a friend. Itโs just that good! This will be a favorite for years to come.
The book is divided into 5 parts:
1. Christmas in the Beginning
2. Christmas in the Land
3. Christmas in the Gospels
4. Christmas in the Letters
5. Awaiting a New Advent
Each of these sections focuses on prophecies, promises, and fulfillments all culminating in the first and future comings of our Lord Jesus. If youโre looking for a way to focus your heart on our Savior this Christmas, read this book.
My Advent Devotionals are among some of my most favorite books that line my shelf and Allistair Beggโs, โLet Earth Receive Her King,โ has certainly earned a spot among them.
I have looked forward to reading these insightful devotions every morning and love how Begg traces the story of Jesus from Genesis to Revelation in preparing our hearts not only for Christmas, but for Christโs return.
Thank you, The Good Book Company, for my copy in exchange for an honest review.
Bought this book as a way to reflect on advent. I have been encouraged and refreshed by the depth of the reading and reflections on each day, its not just a thought for the day, more in depth, very engaging
How did God prepare for the birth of Christ? In Let Earth Receive Her King, Alistair Begg helps you prepare your heart for Christmas Day. With 24 Advent devotions, Begg takes you on a journey across the whole of Scripture to help you better see Jesus. His writing is refreshing and hopeful.
Fulfillment
I most appreciated how Begg spends time in the Old Testament. He is able to bring up allusions and prophecies that point to and find their fulfillment in Jesus. Begg does not lose sight of Jesusโ heritage. Israelโs history is on full display, and I was delighted with a fuller and clearer picture of the Messiah.
Freedom
โLet Earth Receive Her Kingโ is a wonderful companion for the Christmas season as you embrace the hope and freedom of Christโs arrival. This book not only deepens your understanding of Jesus but also enriches your celebration of his birth. Let your heart prepare him room with renewed joy and reverence.
I received a media copy of Let Earth Receive Her King and this is my honest review.
This Advent devotional by Alistair Begg features short daily readings that explore the Christmas story in its full biblical context, from Genesis to Revelation. Each reading is about four to six pages long, and they all begin with a Bible verse. Begg explains what each verse means, frequently making connections with other Scripture passages as well, and he shares hope-filled encouragements and practical applications for his readers. Each devotion concludes with thoughtful reflection questions, and then with the lyrics of a traditional Christmas carol that fits with that day's theme.
This book stands out because of its whole-Bible approach to the Christmas story. The first ten readings set the stage by exploring key plot points and themes from the Old Testament, and then Begg spends several readings on the gospel accounts of Christ's birth. After that, he explores related themes from the New Testament letters, and writes about prophecies in Revelation about Jesus's second coming. The book concludes with a final reading for after Christmas.
"Let Earth Receive Her King" is well-written and encouraging, and the book is also very aesthetically pleasing. This is a cloth-bound hardcover with gilded accents, and it has thick cream pages, a sturdy sewn binding, and a ribbon bookmark. This is a beautiful object that is full of glorious truths and hopeful messages, and it will appeal to Christians who are looking for a deep, thoughtful, and gospel-focused Advent devotional.
I received a free copy from the publisher, and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
