Description

Motherhood is one of life’s most joyful yet most difficult gifts. We are eager to get it "right", yet parenting usually highlights our weaknesses and leaves us worried about our mistakes.

These hope-filled, positive devotions recognise the realities and pressures, joys and disappointments of motherhood and will give you a precious reminder of grace from God’s word to hold onto each day. They will help you to trust that God’s grace is enough for you and your kids. As the authors say in the introduction, “Our children do not need a perfect mother. What they do need is a mother who recognises her need for a perfect Saviour and understands that this is the greatest need of her children as well."

As you focus on the work of Jesus rather than your own efforts, you will feel less pressure and more freedom and joy in all the ups and downs of motherhood.

Written by a mother-daughter combination (one with four kids aged 10-16 and one with three grown kids and ten grandchildren) who are both grateful recipients of God's grace and faithfulness in the many seasons, situations and realities of motherhood.

Author, Deeper Still

At the heart of this book is a prayer and a poem. Need I say more The short, simple chapters ooze grace and wisdom while being gritty and real about the complexities of parenting. I particularly appreciated the inclusion of discussing chronic illness and children with additional needs, and the value the authors placed on diversity of parenting styles and temperaments

I loved this! Honest stories, practical help and big grace for real mums, from real mums. This book is like a chat and a cup of coffee with a loving friend. It’s warm, honest, practical and filled with real life stories that set us free from the burden of trying to be supermum by continually pointing us to God’s generous grace.

Finding a good devotional book is harder than you think, and finding a thoughtful, hope-filled devotional for moms is even harder. That’s why we are happy to commend these reflections. The writing is accessible, the stories are honest, and the gospel encouragement can be felt on every page. What a needed reminder for moms (and all of us) that God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.

“great encouragement”

Every mother needs encouragement, strength, and hope for each day they face and this devotional does just that.

Walton and Green structure the book with thirty chapters, ideally to fit an entire month's worth of devotions. I thoroughly enjoyed the variety and depth of each devotional - no two are the same. Some of the thirty chapter titles are as follows:

- Why Grace is Such Good News

- Worship in the Mundane

- Souls, Sufferers, Sinners

- Trusting our Shepherd in the Darkness

- Finding and Enjoying your Mom-Strengths

Each devotional is formatted the same:

- Scripture Reference

- Grace in a Line: a simple, concise summary of the day's concept

- Authors' reflections

- Reflect: questions for the reader to ponder and dig deeper

- Journal: one page for journaling notes

I enjoyed so much of this devotional! Walton and Green were extremely relatable, sharing raw and honest experiences of their own. They did not shy away from the struggles nor the hard work it takes daily to achieve the character God requires of us as mothers.

The content is saturated with scripture and practical insights.

This is a wonderful book to provide simple but powerful encouragement to moms each morning, day or evening.

I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company in exchange for an honest review.

“Balm for the weary soul”

This book has been like balm for my often weary soul, in this epic task of motherhood. I truly love being a mother, but there are days when you feel like you’re not enough, like you’re failing, like you can’t carry everything for them. This book, in extremely accessible (roughly 4 page sections) brings grace in a line, every day, covering many aspects of motherhood, such as grace for raising a strong willed child (🙋‍♀️) , the beauty of Christ’s strength in our weakness and grace for our fears.

Written by mother and daughter duo, it is packed full of real life experience, wisdom, biblical truth and encouragement. ♥️

It would make a perfect gift for a friend this Christmas!

“A wonderful devotional on God's grace in the midst of motherhood.”

He Gives More Grace: 30 Reflections for the Ups and Downs of Motherhood Through the Years by Sarah Walton and Linda Green

This devotional is for the mama in any season of motherhood. Written by a mother and daughter, it shares the many forms of God's grace connected with motherhood. They share stories and encouragement throughout. Each devotion is short, but insightful with biblical encouragement, conviction, and points mamas to God's grace both for us and our children. I loved that at the end of each devotion there is a place to write notes along with reflection questions.

I loved this devotional so much! It came at just the right time while I have a newborn and toddler and we are adjusting to being a family of four. I loved the personal stories that I could relate to and the wisdom shared in a gracious way. This is such a great devotional for the busy mama as each devotion is short and points us back to God's grace and reminds us the many blessings of motherhood even in the midst of the challenges. I was reminded of so much truth in this book. One of the things that I appreciated was the reminder that we can't thwart God's will for our children through our failures or even our successes. Parenting is truly humbling and should make us depend on the Lord even more. I highly recommend this devotional. It would also make a great Chrisrmas gift for a mom friend this season!

This book is available December 1st!

Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for a copy of this lovely book for my honest thoughts!
