Human beings were created to reflect the image of God—but only to a limited extent. Although we share important attributes with God (love, mercy, compassion, etc.), there are other qualities that only God possesses, such as unlimited power, knowledge, and authority. At the root of all sin is our rebellious desire to be like God in such ways—a desire that first manifested itself in the garden of Eden.
In None Like Him, Jen Wilkin leads us on a journey to discover ten ways God is different from us—and why that’s a good thing. In the process, she highlights the joy of seeing our limited selves in relation to a limitless God, and how such a realisation frees us from striving to be more than we were created to be.
I have been reading this book with a friend, and we are both loving every chapter!
Jen opens up the truths about who God is and what he is like with such passion and clarity, it's hard not to be excited by what she says. We are both relishing being reminded of who He is, and are discovering new and wondrous aspects to his character and being.
A wonderful, uplifting read!
I have found this book extremely helpful in increasing my awe and understanding of God and his character.
Jen helpfully takes us through what God is like and how we are different to him. Every chapter has challenged and comforted me as to why we need God to be exactly as he is and how I should live in response to these things.
This book reminds us how great God is and challenges us to, therefore, view and worship him correctly.
The book contains helpful discussion questions at the end of each chapter so could be read and discussed in ...pairs or groups.
A great read for Men too.
