This book is such a wonderful introduction to the life of Jonathan Edwards and the way God can use ordinary faithfulness for extraordinary purposes.
What stood out to me most is the book’s emphasis on the power of God’s Word. Jonathan’s story reminds children that revival and lasting spiritual impact don’t ultimately come from having a big personality or doing something impressive, but from faithfully sharing and teaching God’s truth. I really appreciate that the focus stays on what God ...was doing through Jonathan rather than simply presenting him as a hero to admire.
This is another strong addition to the Do Great Things for God series. It encourages children to treasure Scripture, trust God’s power, and remember that faithfulness matters, even when we can’t see what God may choose to do through it. It’s exactly the kind of Christian biography I want on our shelves: engaging enough for children to enjoy, but meaningful enough to spark real conversations about faith and following Jesus.

Jonathan Edwards is a thoughtful introduction to one of church history's most influential pastors and theologians. As with the rest of the Do Great Things for God series, the story presents important moments from Jonathan Edwards' life in a way that is engaging and understandable for young readers.
Children will discover Jonathan's love for God's Word from an early age and learn how God used his faithful ministry to bring about revival. The book encourages young readers to treasure Scripture, ...trust God's power, and recognize that He often works through ordinary faithfulness.

Our family has enjoyed this series for years, and Jonathan Edwards is another worthwhile addition that introduces children to a faithful hero of the Christian faith while pointing readers to Christ.

This is another wonderful addition to the “Do Great Things for God” series. We enjoy these short picture books as a way to learn about the lives of faithful Christians.
This series always has beautiful illustrations and this one is no exception. They take a story and make it accessible for children with an emphasis on how God works in their lives. Each book includes a real life photo and timeline of the person which is ever so helpful. This ...book also includes questions at the end and additional free resources for interacting with the person’s story. The homeschool mom in me loves these mini lessons! We really enjoyed the addition of the map pages at the end of this story as well.
While this series has been a favorite in our family since the beginning, my son is especially excited that they have been releasing “boy” books after a long line of wonderful stories about women. Jonathan Edwards having only sisters also resonated with my only son, and my children were surprised that people expected his sermons to last a whole hour! Because this book mentions the dispute from Edwards about who can partake in the Lord’s Supper, we’re able to have a great conversation with our kids about our beliefs as Presbyterians and how they align with Edwards based on our understanding of Scripture. I’m grateful for the hard working people that produce these books so that I can teach my children about such amazing people.
