About this book

Hosea is a love song, with a difference.

Love songs are everywhere. On the radio; on movie soundtracks; in the background as we shop and eat out. They’re often stuck in our heads and hearts, too.

And yet their lyrics are full of desire leading to disappointment, and hope followed by heartbreak. Love songs reflect our yearning for a love that is solid and sure; and they expose our inability to find it.

The book of Hosea is a love song. But uniquely, its lyrics are about a love which ...

Endorsements

I love this small group study guide series from The Good Book Company. Christians are regularly told they should spend more time studying God’s Word, but sometimes there’s not a clear plan for how to do this. These study guides provide practical, step-by-step guidance on working through books of the Bible, along with wonderful questions that encourage reflection and application. I hope churches and Christian ministries will take advantage of this wonderful resource.

The aim of the The Good Book Company is to be biblical, relevant and accessible, and nothing embodies that ethos more than their Good Book Guides. Each guide provides a framework for your group to dig into the text of Scripture for itself while providing enough of a steer to keep you on track plus useful pointers towards application. The result is a great combination of fidelity to Scripture and ease of use.

The Good Book Guides are an immensely precious resource for the church. A careful blend of helpful context and clearly-worded, searching questions which aim to help readers to uncover the meaning of the text and  apply it in responsible ways. I think these small group studies are the best available and pray that they will continue to prove helpful to local churches across the world!

3.00 stars Pondered personal and congregational devotion

Discussing the situation, principally, of the Northern Israelites - their devotion to God, or lack of it, and His response led to consideration of our individual and congregational devotion. A wake-up call bringing thoughts of God’s CQC of the seven Asian Province churches and discussion of potential comparisons.

Thank you so much for sharing this review, Peter!

5.00 stars Hosea

Hi there,

our housegroup is very happy with the book. The study is very interesting and encourages lengthy discussions. The content is really great.

What we struggle with a little is the small writing in the books and the fact that some of the text is in a grey instead of a black font. When we go through the book ...

5.00 stars Valuable resource

This guide has a really helpful structure and useful questions. There's enough detail in the background to help everyone in the group understand the context quickly. Then the questions keep us in Bible, both in Hosea and in supporting passages to draw out what difference Jesus makes for us and how our God is the same as that of the Isrealites. I'd recommend it for any small group context.
