“God's Sovereignty Seen”

In Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams, Tim Thornborough tells of God’s perfect plans.

From Joseph’s first dreams about bundles of wheat bowing down to him, to Joseph being glad to see his brothers – this is a story about God looking after his people and blessing the whole world.

God’s Sovereignty Seen

The refrain is “The Lord has a plan and he’s working it out. He speaks wors we can trust, so there’s no need to doubt.” It’s a wonderful wording of God’s sovereignty seen in the story of Joseph.

The illustrations by Jennifer Davison are vivid and vibrant, with incredible colors flowing over every page. My kids found this book and the story to be fascinating, and I’m glad I was able to use it to talk about our faith!

I received a media copy of Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams and this is my honest review.

“Interactive & faithful retelling”

My 6-year-old daughter and I LOVE this series. The stories make perfect read-alouds for ages 2-6. They are entertaining, interactive, and (most importantly) faithful Biblical retellings.

This story focuses on opposite words. We follow Joseph in his bad-good, near-far, sleep-awake, worried-calm story where God reveals His plans are always at work even when it doesn’t seem like it.

The illustrations are adorable, and the rhythmic writing make these fun to read, and even more fun to listen to. Joseph’s dreams are the focus in this retelling, and how even when someone means something for bad, “the Lord’s plan was for Good.” All ages will be reminded that we are never to doubt God’s plan.

*I was sent a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*

“Faithful and engaging series for little ones!”

This series is easily our preschooler's favourite (and has been since she was a toddler!). With simple and fun language, cute and colourful illustrations, our family has enjoyed these truthful Bible stories over and over again. This new addition (Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams) is no different. Our preschooler has not only learnt about the good plans of God even in bad situation, but also loved listening out for opposite words throughout the story. Well done! We can't wait for the next book.

P.S. I have received a free copy of this book in exchange of my honest review.

“Interactive and engaging for littles!”

Part of a series of other Bible story books, this book introduces littles to the story of Joseph through brightly illustrated pages. It is quick and simply written. These books are interactive and try to get the children engaging with the story. Joseph and the Very Strange Dreams has children listening for the opposites mentioned throughout the story. I also love how it emphasizes God's Soverign work even in the midst of evil and that we can trust Him. I have loved these books in this series for introducing littles to these Bible stories and am so excited to get to add this one to our collection!

Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for a copy of this book for my honest thoughts!

“A fast favorite for littles”

This series is a favorite in our home and this new addition is just as fun as the rest. The book follows the biblical account of Joseph in a straightforward and easy to understand way. My littles (ages 1, 4 and 5) love the bright illustrations too.

As a mom I love that this book focuses on opposite words. We’ve been working on things like opposites and what words rhyme. Having a fun, engaging, truth filled book is a win for the entire family!

“Another great option!”

This series has been a joy for our kids! The Very Best Bible Stories series includes biblical accounts of Moses, Joshua, Easter, Christmas, Esther, Noah, David, Jonah and more.

Tim now shares the account of Joseph and his brothers. He stays true to the Word as he retells the brokenness and beauty of Joseph's journey. It's simple for little ears to understand and grasp.

The illustrations, as with all the others in the series, are delightful, beautiful and fun. The best part is the "toddler" version of each character in the story. I think this is wonderful and makes it more relatable to little kids.

I do wish Thornborough would have included the Scripture reference and possibly a Q&A for parents and kids to have further discussion around the story.

Ultimately, it's a very interactive story and any child would enjoy reading it.

I received a copy of this book from The Good Book Company for an honest review.

“A fantastic addition to the series!”

We loved this fresh take on a very well-known story. The different perspective and the focus on the dream were really well done.

In our home, we have a rule to avoid using the word “hated”, especially for young children. This word appears within the first few pages to describe how others felt toward Joseph, and we would prefer softer language for developing vocabularies.

The story also felt slightly longer than necessary. A quicker pace and fewer hard details might have helped maintain engagement for younger readers.

Still, this is a great addition to the series by Tim Thornborough and Jennifer Davison.

“Engaging for Toddlers!”

Using opposites as the frame of the story, this book really gets kids interested in the story of Joseph and how God used him for good. My son was engaged, and that makes me so pleased as a toddler mom to have my son engaged in a Bible story from beginning to end.
