Top choice: Living Without Worry by Tim Lane
Anxiety is a frequent topic of conversation in my household. Both my wife and I seem to worry about most things; work, church, friends, family, whether to get Indian or Thai food.
Tim Lane’s book was a great challenge to us to address which of our worries were helpful concern and which we just needed to let go. I was particularly struck by the way Tim manages to apply God's big promises to the nitty gritty of our broken, messy lives.
His example prayers in chapter six were very helpful. The book reminded us that resting in Jesus was the answer. We're still a work in progress but we're much better able to diagnose and confront our anxieties now.

Top choice: You Can Really Grow by John Hindley
Have you ever pondered the question: “How do I grow as a Christian?” So often the answer becomes a list of items that leave you feeling discouraged when you don’t see the desired results, even after faithfully doing them. John Hindley’s You Can Really Grow reminds us why we want to grow: because we have been adopted into God’s family and our heavenly Father loves us and wants us to grow. This is not a book filled with a list of dos and don’ts. Relationship is the heart of the book. As I read You Can Really Grow, I found myself delighting in the beauty of my relationship with Christ in a fresh, vibrant way. I was reminded that there is nothing rote about my relationship with my Redeemer. If you want to be refreshed, encouraged, or motivated in your Christian walk, I highly recommend You Can Really Grow.
