“Tear-jerkingly powerful”
I've read widely around the area of faith and sexuality. I've heard the arguments from both sides. I don't think we'll ever all agree on what the bible says - nor do I think agreement would necessarily be preferable (although it would undoubtedly make life easier!). But what I do know is that you can't argue with people's stories. This book, produced by Living Out, made me weep for how exquisitely the gospel was expressed in the words of same-sex attracted people who have grappled with what that means for their lives. When the book arrived, I was supposed to be working but I literally couldn't put it down! I had to force myself to close it at some point otherwise I'd never have done anything useful that day ;) Tears streamed down my face as, page after page, I was confronted in a new way with the radical beauty of Jesus, and how he brings such joy, hope and peace that the world can't offer. Some of those in the book express how, as gay Christians growing up in church, they believed God to be ‘anti-gay’, didn't feel they could openly come out, and knew no other gay Christians to speak to. If you have, or know, a gay Christian young person, do consider reading this book together - I think they will be encouraged and inspired. It's not a book to convince you to adopt one position over another - it's a collection of beautifully authentic stories which will have you falling in love with Jesus all over again - regardless of whether you're Side A or B.
