Description

Have you ever found yourself wondering whether God really cares about the goings on of this world? Does he care about the violence and pain that so many people suffer? Does he even notice that most people don’t even believe he exists, let alone obey his commands? Perhaps you think that asking these questions is something Christians just shouldn’t do.

But imagine that you did ask God these questions, and that he chose to answer them. Imagine that he told you disaster was on the horizon, and that it was God himself who was sending the disaster.

How would you react? What would you do? What would you think of God?
A timely set of Bible studies for individuals or small groups.

“Solid Bible teaching”

The small group I lead enjoyed this material. They enjoyed the opportunity to get to know a little-known book better, and good discussions were provoked.

“Trusting God”

We used this study guide in a small church bible study group. It was a very good book for those unfamiliar with Habakkuk. Gives a good background to and overview of the book. For Christians who know the bible well it doesn't go deeply into the text and therefore misses out on more that could be discussed. We felt there wasn't enough time to complete each study in one sitting. It was a very apposite study in view of what is going on in the world today. God is on the throne and though we can't often understand why things are happening, He is in control. He is sovereign. It reminds us to trust Him whatever happens around us - good or bad.

“Thought provoking study”

Our homegroup have just finished this study on Habakkuk. It provoked some friendly discussion during our sessions, most of which were set at about the right length to finish within an hour. The questions set were thought provoking, although some could be a bit more of a stretch to challenge us to think more deeply. The studies helped us to relate the subject matter to other parts of the Bible and the background notes at the side of the pages were very useful. Just a small criticism is that there is a tendency to describe what you are about to read, which you don't understand until you have read it. It would be more helpful to get the reader to read the reference first, and then comment on it. Generally, this study is a strong challenge for us to develop a robust faith perspective within the present world scenario.
