Practicality. That's what Christians have always loved about James. It's a book about the real world - where the rich and poor struggle to get on, where there is as much suffering and sickness as joy, where Christians quarrel and fight and have a hard time controlling their tongues, and where we find ourselves compromised by becoming too friendly with the world.
In a world like this, the key to survival and growth, says James, is to humbly receive the Word which God has planted in us. And to receive it humbly means doing it.
The Implanted Word opens up the book of James in a fresh, interactive format that individuals and small groups will find easy to use.

We are using this study at our church, within our weekly small groups.
It is well written and easy to follow, with challenging questions.
Would fully recommend this book to others.
An order for 10 House Group study books, fulfilled earlier than forecast.
I bought this to use in a 1-to-1 with a new Christian, but found it rather overwhelming and academic. There is loads of text to read - more of a small book than a booklet! OK for group study leaders maybe, but probably not one to put in the hands of every group member. I'd rather that they spend time reading the Bible than the booklet.
Looking forward to using this study in James with my friend although we think we will be rather challenged by it!
We have used this study over a number of weeks going through it completely. The questions were found to be precise and revealing and the point was always made at the end of each study and the give thanks and pray section was also helpful in encouraging people to pray. The views expressed were found to be very balanced and I think the right conclusions were drawn in controversial subjects such as the relationship between sickness and sin (study 8).
Helpful and thought-provoking notes and questions to get a small group reading and applying James.
This study is quite comprehensive. The format of investigating and thinking it through promotes discussion, extends and challeneges our thinking and subsequent actions. Our group encompasses a wide variety of ages and so applications are many and varied. the best discussion times occur when the group has spent time at home thinking through the questions and are willing to share their discoveries and difficulties.
Had used others in this series successfully, so we tried this one. We weren't disappointed.
Our group were finding some other guides too wordy and irrelevant. This sparked useful discussion and was well received.
The study has a good balance between really good information provided for understanding the main themes, with the investigations and direct questions covering the main points. James is such a practical book and all the aspects of the real christian life are examined closely. I thoroughly recommend this study.
