Fun lift-the-flap board book that motivates small children to use their ears in a Christ-like way.

This helpful and engaging training tool will help parents to teach their kids that God didn’t make their ears so that they could ignore instructions, but for positive things like hearing all kinds of noises and sounds, and especially to hear and obey God's word.

Not only will children be encouraged to follow Jesus’ example, but they’ll also be reassured that he loves us no matter what we do. He can forgive us when we fail and help us to change.

This book is part of a series called Training Young Hearts, that addresses the attitudes of the heart that underpin behaviour and explains how the gospel of grace enables us to change.

Parents, teachers, and other loved ones can refer back to these resources when specific behaviours need both to be corrected and to be connected to forgiveness, grace and growth.

One of the most important ways we can train young children is to teach them what is right as well as teach them what is wrong. In the Training Young Hearts series Abbey Wedgeworth faithfully shows children how to live while also telling them the good news of God’s grace. These board books are such an engaging (and fun!) way to teach big truths to young hearts.

“God Hears Us”

The What Are Ears For? Board Book is lift-the-flap board book to help your kids hear like Jesus! It’s a beautiful way to show the connection between listening and obeying God.

God Hears Us

Emma Randall’s vibrant illustrations are wonderful. I was most moved to share with my children that God hears our prayers as well. This book is a great way to explore our bodies and how God created us to worship him.

I received a media copy of What Are Ears For? and this is my honest review.

“Love it”

We love this range! Beautiful and engaging book, with big flaps. Not only it talks about what ears are for but also what they aren’t for. Seamlessly integrated with Bible verses and compared to Jesus and God. Written in a way that even the smallest readers will understand and learn from. I honestly couldn’t remember this book enough.

“Timely addition to our home”

I have found these books to be extremely timely and helpful in the shepherding of our little ones hearts. I have three children under 6 and so sometimes, ears and eyes aren’t doing what I’d hope they’d be doing. These books have been just the tool we’ve (long) needed to bring a visual to the conversations we are consistently having around thinking of others and using our bodies to glorify God. Thank you Abbey for creating these incredibly practical tools which point our children’s hearts to Jesus and all he has done for them.

The books go through what our ears and eyes are for, what they are not for, that Jesus was once a child like them and that because of his loving sacrifice for us, we can say sorry and ask for his help. A wonderfully positive and clear message for our little ones. All with the assistance of the alluring lifting of the flaps ☺️

As a side note, I loved how inclusive the illustrations were too ♥️

“Great resource for your little ones!”

Another great book in this series! Parents looking to impart Christian values of careful listening of instruction and obedience to your little ones simply and effectively – this book is an absolute gem for you! It is interactive, featuring lift-flaps and cool gestures like clapping and waving to keep things engaging.

What's even more remarkable is the clear Gospel message it conveys – pointing to how Christ modeled obedience.

It's worth noting that the book does include cartoon-style depictions of Christ, which might be something to consider if your family has convictions on that. That said, overall, it's a fantastic book that deserves a solid four stars. It's a great addition to your personal library, and it's also perfect for the kids' room at your church

“A true gem of a book and great discipleship tool for toddlers!”

These books are true gems! I shared two of her previous books that my toddler loves awhile back and am so excited to add these two to our collection. Each book has flaps to lift on every page for busy hands. Not only that, but they teach children that how we use our bodies is important to God. God has made us with our eyes, ears, hands, and mouths to praise Him and bring Him glory. Each book shows children the right way to use our bodies, the way God intended for them to be used. They also address sinful ways we use our bodies and disobey and then immediately point children to Christ and his example and how we can ask God for forgiveness and ask the Holy Spirit to help us when we are tempted to do wrong. These are for ages 2-4.
These books have been such great tools in our home for discipleship and discipleing. I love that they share the gospel in such a tangible way for toddlers that is so applicable to daily life and shows them their need for Christ. Highly reccomend for the toddler in your life!

Thank you @thegoodbookcompanyusa for my copies for my honest thoughts!

“The Gospel for little hands!”

This would make an awesome and dependable gift you can be confident in for any 1-4yo!
As a mom, I am a big fan of how solid biblical truth is conveyed simply without losing its depth of meaning. Starting with what our ears are made to do & how we sin and break God’s design, then moving to Jesus and His perfect life and finishing with the available forgiveness and access to Holy Spirit’s power to live rightly - the book is the Gospel! More than just my kids, my own heart was convicted and my own eyes drawn up in Worship.

“Simple, Sweet, Truth”

This lift-the-flap board book is written by Abbey Wedgeworth.

In this sweet series, children are introduced to gospel-centered truths, through sweet and simple biblical messages.

One thing I love about this series is that it teaches children, no matter what you have done (such as rolling eyes, or ignoring instructions), there is hope and grace in Jesus.
An important truth we can never learn too early!

Full of vibrant and colourful illustrations, and relatable content for young children, these books would be a fantastic addition to your toddlers home library.

“Wonderful discipling resource!”

"From the very beginning kids learn to see Jesus as more than an example, but as the source of forgiveness when they fail and help when they want to be better." - Abbey Wedgeworth

The Training Young Hearts series is clear, engaging and rooted in truth. Paired with fun and colourful illustrations, these books address the heart attitudes that underpin behaviour and explain how the gospel of grace enables us to change.

These lift-the-flap board books have been written with 0-4 year olds in mind, but it's safe to say that older kids and even adults have benefited from them! When we take turns reading to our littlest (these are her favourite books and she asks for them to be read a dozen times a day!), the training refrains remind all of us to use our hands, mouths, eyes and ears in a Christ-like way. These books have given us the language to make meaningful connections when specific behaviours need to be addressed. Our older kids know most of the lines by memory now!

What I love most about this series is that it always points us back to Christ - how He used His hands, mouth, eyes and ears to obey God and love others, how we can always repent and ask God for forgiveness, and know that His Holy Spirit is here to help us change when we ask.

These books have been so helpful that we've even stocked up on a few copies to give away to some little friends!
