Description

What is the nature of true Christian worship? What are we actually doing when we meet together for 'church' on Sunday?

And how does that connect with what we do the rest of the week? Vaughan Roberts answers these questions and more, as he brings readers back to the Bible in order to define what worship is and isn't, what it should and shouldn't be. While we may struggle to define worship by arguing about singing hymns with the organ, versus modern songs with guitars and drums, or about the place of certain spiritual gifts, Roberts suggests we are asking the wrong questions. For true worship is more than this - it is to encompass the whole of life.

This book challenges us to worship God every day of the week, with all our heart, mind, soul and strength.

True Worship

Isaac Adams, 9Marks, 27 Mar 2014

Ask Trey, a college student in your church, what he thinks it is. You might hear, “It’s kind of like…well, you know…I mean—I don’t know. It’s private—a me and God thing. It’s like love – hard to define but you know it when you’re in it.”... continue reading

“ Reclaiming the meaning of worship”

This book is a great help to when thinking about Christian worship. Vaughan reminds us that worship is not just about singing songs, or even being in church, although both are important, but about every aspect of our life. I was most struck by the way he encourages us to put Gods word back in its central place, Gods word ministering to Gods people, drawing a response, from us, of true worship. A fantastic book for anyone involved in leadership within the Church.
