Customer Reviews

The best introduction to thinking and re-thinking christian work with teens!

It is an interesting phenomenon that we Christians regularly confirm our belief that God's word is powerful to save, and then act as if that were true only for adults. I've heard people say, "Of course, for young people we need fun and games!", and then we slip the message in somewhere... that's usually referred to as 'the God bit'.

This little book takes God's word seriously and provides the challenge to think and re-think our approach to youth work. It contains some good exercises and encourages thinking strategically about this important work.

I confess now that I am not only a reader of this book, but grew up in a youth group where it was applied. We were a group of young people from years 7-9 at high school and then another from years 10-12 coming along on Sundays. We all brought our Bibles, listened to 15-20 minute talks, and went to mid-week home groups. We brought our friends and knew our bibles well enough to share Jesus with others.

God has called people to himself by his spirit and his word and he will continue to do that for people of all ages. This book is a great way to think out your youth work strategy believing this to be true.
