Simply Christianity - Beyond Religion
Description
But just imagine we were able to get beyond this - to strip back all the rituals, myths and dogma; to put to one side the hair-splitting and disagreements; to get beyond all the trappings of 'religion' - what would we find? If we were to go back to Jesus himself, to the biographies about him contained in the New Testament, what would we discover Christianity to be about?
That is the project of this book. It aims to present simply Christianity, by reading and reflecting upon the ancient biography of Jesus written by Luke.
Other information
John Dickson's three previous books about Christianity have been best-sellers throughout Australia and the UK. The warmth and humour of his writing, and the straightforward clarity of his ideas, have endeared him to thousands of readers. As well as being an author, John has a busy life speaking about the Christian message in churches, schools and universities all over his native Sydney, and beyond. And just for fun in his spare time, he is doing research for a PhD in ancient history. According to him, however, his finest achievements are marrying Elizabeth and raising Joshua and Sophie.Table of contents

Christianity without the religious trappings & traditions of Church
A more adult approach by John Dixon on his favourite subject - what is Christianity really about and why should we respond to God.
I recommend this book as a starting point for those new to Christianity who want to explore what they have said they believe or as an introduction to someone who simply has questions about what makes a Christian when there are so many 'versions' around these days.
This book doesn't have all the answers and the author makes that clear - it is a starting point to help people come to understand what it means to be Christian - to follow Christ. ![]()
