Defending the Gospel
Description
In Defending the Gospel, ABC Broadcaster and Christian evangelist Kel Richards shares how, over the years, he has improved on his ability to answer questions that non-church friends have asked about what Christians believe. With warmth, humour and clarity, he demonstrates how to anticipate gospel-related questions, how to construct the framework behind your response and how to get a conversation going.
This is the latest in Matthias Media's ‘Guidebooks for Life’ series. Like other titles in the series, it covers an important issue of the Christian life in an accessible and straightforward way. Written for every Christian, Defending the Gospel will better prepare you to give clear and helpful answers whenever people challenge your faith.
Other information
Kel Richards writes:'I was a very young radio announcer (probably all of about 19) at a country station. Standing in the record library of the local radio station in Armindale, in northern New South Wales, I heard the other young announcer beside me say, 'Religion is just for people who need a crutch'. It floored me for a moment. And then I thought of how to reply: 'No it's not!' was my intellectually and theologically powerful response.
With humour and warmth, ABC broadcaster Kel Richards explains how, over the years, he has managed to improve on his answer. Kel uses the popular gospel outline 'Two ways to Live' to help anticipate a number of the questions that our non-church friends may have about what Christians believe. This book will be a great help for anyone looking for better answers.

Basically defends the 2 ways to live gospel outline
If you regularly get given opportunities to tell the gospel straight by using a gospel outline such as "two ways to live" then this book will give a good idea as to how to defend that outline. For example if someone you speak to doesn't believe the resurrection of Jesus is possible - then you will find help here. I personally don't often get given this type of opportunity however and as such didn't find the book all that helpful.
I found chapters 7, 8 and 9 the most useful - these dealt with some of the "off target" questions (such as suffering or the church) that are sometimes asked, and also how to respond differently to different groups of people. ![]()
It does exactly what is says on the tin.
A comprehensive and well thought through set of answers to potential objections, based on "2 ways to live". It's easy to read and the issues under discussion are very clearly explained. It's also got some other helpful bits besides. What more could you ask for? ![]()
