Balanced and inspiring book.
It took me a few chapters to get into the book, but I found it encouraging. I think Sharon gives a balanced and informed investigation into issues women face. She gives several different points of view in detail, including radical feminist teaching which influences our society. Then she clearly explains the biblical teaching regarding God's plan for women, their lives, and ministry, which left me inspired to become more involved in God's plan for me. ![]()
A good all-round introduction to these issues
For anyone wanting a general, faithful introduction to the issues that it covers then I think it is a good read.
There is one section that sets out in details the evangelical arguments for and against women in teaching roles, which is very useful.
We read this book in our book group. We knew some of the Bible's teaching about most of the topics that it covered, but we thought that this book would cover them in a very thorough, in-depth way, and for the most part (with the exception of women teachers mentioned above) it didn't, which left us a bit disappointed with it. However, that was probably our fault because we approached it with a very specific agenda. ![]()
