Excellent lyrics as always

Often my initial reaction to hearing a Colin Buchanan CD is 'Hmmm, great words but not sure about the music!', but then it grows on me and I never tire of listening to it over and over again (since our children like to listen to the same CD's countless times). This CD is helpful in learning and memorising Scripture to music. Our family love this CD, despite some of the songs being more teenager style of music (our 3 children are under 6). And for those who do purchase this CD, the 'Denise' mentioned in the CD who is announced as about to the read the Bible, is actually me!

Very disappointing

I bought this children's cd as part of my grand daughter's Christmas presents. I had previously bought 2 others by Colin Buchanan. We are very disappointed in this. My daughter and her husband who enjoy contempory music think it is AWFUL! Listening to it myself ,I would agree. The words are not clear and the music poor.

Disappointing

We were disaappointed. Having really enjoyed many of Colin's other cd's and learned Bible verses from them far more easily than without music, this one was a let-down. The music was so dominant that the words were drowned out .

A real let down

The one star is for the Bible content. I do appreciate the effort to put the words of God to music. But the sweet, deep, powerful, beautiful, life-giving words of God's message to mankind deserve far better that the preposterous, discordant sounds to which they have been set. Cute cover, great words from the artist in the "About the album" section, and again, couldn't ask for better lyrics. But honestly folks, not the cd I want my kids soaking in this summer.

Vintage Colin - Just BRILLIANT!

Surprised by other reviews, so wanted to post our own - the whole family love it! It's requested by all 4 children (and 2 adults) on all car journey's. Their is a real variety of songs, funny voices, catchy tunes. We've all learned much more of the Bible thanks to Colin. The variety prevents a tedious 'yet another verse to learn' reaction from the children. Sure, there's some overlap with the odd track here and there from other Colin CD's, but no worries - it's great to have so many brilliant ones all on the same CD. More seriously, I think it's essential listening for any family wanting to be soaked in Scripture and delight in His word. Worth mentioning our children are aged 1-5, and it really appeals to them! Possibly less so for children 10+

Tries hard but doesn't quite work as a whole album

I appreciate what Colin is trying to do creating a whole album of memory verses put to music. I grew up listening to Ishmael who similarly produced a whole album of verses from scripture (though Colin's inclusion of the Bible reference for his musical memory verses is a real bonus). However, the trouble is that these types of album have to shoehorn the music to fit the verse, with the result that this album has very few songs that are particularly catchy (Hee Brooz 10:24-25 is one of the few exceptions). It is hard to listen to the whole thing in one go, and on first hearing I didn't like it at all. It does grow on you however, and my daughter seemed to like some of the tunes. I find some of the songs a little too silly in style (though perhaps I am just a killjoy!) - maybe they are more suitable for school-aged children. I personally prefer Johnny Burns' Unreal Banana Peel and How Cool is That! for my pre-school daughter.

Disappointed

We have bought loads of Colin's music in the past and love it all, Although Colin is faithful to scripture as always in this CD we found the songs were not as tuneful and enjoyable and unfortunately we decided to return it. Sorry!

Another great CD from Colin with his usual diversity of styles.

We all love Colin (heavily influenced by an Aussie Mum!) and the great way he teaches God's wonderful truths in kid friendly ways. Our 7 year son absolutely loves this CD because it includes some 'cool' up to the minute music styles as well as some old favourites. Our 3 year old also likes it but not as much as some of the earlier ones (maybe because the 'cool' music isn't so attractive to 3 year olds). It will certainly be added to our car music collection! We gave it 4 stars as Mum and Dad agree with the 3 year old about some of the more 'cool' music styles ... not as easy to sing along to!

Memory verses always a good idea, and Colin does them well!

This is a really good resource. The reason I haven't given it a 5 is that we haven't had the chance to listen too much yet, so haven't learnt all the songs (or verses!). It's the kind of CD that grows on you.
