Nehemiah: Renovator's Dream
Description
The book of Nehemiah brings the biblical record of Israel's rise and fall to a close - it is the last historical Bible book before the time of Jesus. It records how Nehemiah left his position as a high official in the court of the Persian King to return to Israel to rebuild the city walls. It's the account of how Israel ceremoniously recommitted itself to the law of Moses - only to fail yet again to obey it.
It's a renovator's dream - and a renovator's nightmare.
In these seven studies, you will see the history of Israel through Nehemiah's eyes and experience the many successes - but larger failure - of one leader to restore holy living among his people. It's the story of how bricks and mortar just aren't enough to rebuild a nation's heart.
Ideal for small groups or individuals.

Good stuff!
Our group has found the study guide a great introduction to the book of Nehemiah. It would have been useful to have an introductory short history of how the Jews came to be in this position and a time line of events and dates - maybe even something about the relation of the book to Ezra. The references to other parts of the bible were always helpful in giving the wider picture. The questions were thought provoking and the application was good. The studies are structured and informative enough to make it was easy for group members to have a go at leading, but they are not prescriptive.
