a helpful addition
i found the "reflection" sections helpful in beginning to think through application of the material.
barnett helps us to see the structure of the text by the way in which he sets it out - a strength of the book.
some readers will yearn for more detail but the flow of the test comes across well, making 1 Peter a coherent whole.
some further exegetical work on Ch 3v18-22 would have been helpful in order to justify the author's position on "the spirits in prison" - no doubt the length of the book precluded this, at just 140 pages of less than dense text.
all in all, this is a great book to read through in order to gain an appreciation for the book as a whole. preachers would benefit from it as an introductory text, and it is also easily accessible for "lay" christians. ![]()
