Mark Dever's personal devotion to Scripture has led him to think deeply, read widely, preach clearly and write simply to the great blessing of the body of Christ. Evangelism is the church's mandate and the one reason the redeemed are still on earth. Doing it effectively requires doing it biblically. Mark teaches us how to mobilise our churches to do that.

Evangelism is not only misunderstood, it is often unpractised. Many Christians want to share the gospel with others, but because those Christians don’t grasp the fundamentals of witnessing, they feel intimidated and incapable of sharing the truth of the gospel. Yet those believers fail to recognise that God has already established who and how we are to evangelise.

In The Gospel and Personal Evangelism, Dr Mark Dever seeks to answer the four basic questions about evangelism that many Christians ask: Who should we evangelise? How should we evangelise? What is evangelism? Why should we evangelise?

In his answers, Dever draws on New Testament truths and helps believers apply those truths in practical ways. As readers understand the fundamentals of evangelism, they will begin to develop a culture of evangelism in their lives and their local churches.

Excellent resource!
Review by Dr Thaddeus Irvine | 27.11.2008

I bought this book with a view to running a series of workshops on Evangelism.

There are quite a few materials on the market, but I found this particularly interesting. Rather than JUST teach approaches or methods of outreach and evangelism, it cleverly asks us to examine ourselves and our reasons for NOT evangelising. It then explores exactly what the Gospel is, something about which many Christians appear to know very little. It also, among other topics, gets us to examine issues such as post-evangelism discipleship - something sadly neglected in many churches in terms of existence and quality. It takes much of the stress of planning a course in Evangelism, without removing the thinking and examination required. I have no hesitation in fully recommending it.

Well worth the money.
