If you could ask God one question
|

Having just started running a Christianity Explored course, and heard many different questions, I was looking forward to a really wide range of answers from the authors. But, sadly, only 13 Questions are dealt with, in what turns out to be more of a story book.
I am very thrilled by the Christianity Explored course, but if there is a second edition of this book, please could we have many more questions, with much briefer (and to the point) answers.

The book is excellent for people of all ages. It really digs deep into issues that most of us don't really dare to ask, such as sex, suffering and morals. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants answers or a general overview into what Christians are 'really like'.

This book answers many of the questions raised by unbelievers when confronted with the message of the Gospel. It also equips Christians to handle common objections to the Gospel. Very readable and to be thoroughly recommended to both believers and unbelievers alike

A selection of questions that will resonate with many non-believers. The authors have managed to convey the truth in a non-threatening way with good use of statisitcs, biblical text and humour. A good apologetic tool.

Currently we are running the CY course for a group of youth and I read this book so I could review it for the group. As a Christian I found it an excellent book which was so easy to read and so relevant to today's generation. It helped me to reinforce my beliefs and clarify how I would answer such questions.
Obviously it is an excellent evangelistic tool for seekers as it is so easy to read and yet covers so many key areas of the faith.

I like this book very much. It identifies and raises questions - which are very "modern" and relevant in today's world, and to which the non Christian can relate. The author then takes you to Jesus - and his words in the Bible - for the answers - and you find that he is rather "modern" and relevant to today's world too. I have ordered several copies of this book. I keep them to give to seeking friends as and when the opportunity arises.

Many people struggle with questions about life, the deep issues surrounding humanity and the reason for our existence. These questions can seem insurmountable, but as demonstrated by this book, often centre around fundamental issues that are frequently queried by individuals. 'If You Could Ask God One Question' addresses these questions and answers them in a helpful and clear manner. The authors tackle topics such as human suffering, heaven and hell, the reliability of evidence for Christianity, the divine nature of Christ and other issues. This book contains many personal anecdotes which help to illustrate the issues under discussion as well as providing real situations and examples. This book is a great resource and is helpful not only for those who are searching, but also for those who wish to be of support to others as they seek answers to these significant issues.

Everything the book promises to be. Easy to read, clear. One can identify with the sensible answers given. Ideal to give to a questioning agnostic or non believer. I gave my brother a copy.

Many of us find it difficult to talk to non-Christians about the things we believe. Those of us who gather our nerves sufficiently to engage in a conversation about God will more often than not find ourselves facing one of these issues. So this is a valuable book for Christians, to help us if we normally find our thoughts tangled in the face of such questions.
Even more than this, the book is valuable for people asking such questions. We don't often get several hours to explain our beliefs and get to the challenge of the Gospel: "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" But if somebody is serious enough to be looking for answers, then God could use a few hours spent reading this book to ask this question of them.
The style of the book is conversational and non-technical, but theologically careful. It doesn't flinch from serious issues of judgment, Hell and the moral challenge of Christianity. In most cases, the answers also provide an opening to explain more about the gospel, and talk through further issues.
This is a very useful book to have available in the church, both for one-off visitors and more serious seekers like those on a Christianity Explored course.

I bought this book to give away to people who want answers to their questions, and this book covers most of the questions we could ask God. It is easy to read, funny in places and refers the reader to the relevant scripture in the Bible. However, I would strongly suggest your read it from the beginning, rather than just finding your most interesting question, as each question leads on nicely from the previous one. A great book.

We used this book to start a CU at a grammar school. It is a great little book which answers all those 'Big' questions we all have - 'Is there a God?', 'Life after death', 'Heaven and Hell' etc. The author writes in an easy to understand way and backs his answers with biblical references. I would recommend this book to anyone looking for life's answers or wanting help in giving others answers to these questions.

i had bought this book wanting something i could pass onto a non-christian colleague from an unchurched background to introduce them to christianity in a non-threatening way. I read it first to see if seemed appropriate and it did. It was an easy, at times funny read, but which tackled important questions in a direct and biblically based manner. i would certainly recommend it to others.

The book is useful to read so that you are well equipped to answer questions when put on the spot by colleagues, friends and family...even strangers at bus stops! Great to give as a gift to new Christians or enquiring non-believers.
My favourite chapter was chapter 2, it blew my socks off (you will have to read it to find out why!). I also thought that the chapter on suffering was extremely well written with answers from Jesus' lips. Particularly relevant to me as God lead me out of New York in 2000, my escape of the tragedy of 911 spurs me on to evangelise wherever I am, this book will become a well used tool for me.

A good book to give to someone seeking more understanding about the Christian faith. However, some of the answers were a bit skimpy and I expected the answers to have greater biblical depth.
The answer to 'why does God allow suffering?' did not give a satisfactory answer and made no reference to a fallen world.

This is a great little book with some amusing stories. Easy to read, addresses the various questions in a down to earth way for people to understand. I bought book with purpose of giving it away. Gave it to a guy seeking and wanting answers - he read it - guess what - answered the things he wanted to know, moved him one step closer to a relationship with God. Can recommended this book.

This is a great little book - both to read for yourself, and to then give away to someone with 'questions'. The language is totally appropriate, and the illustrations are very good too. Possibly a little expensive; but still an excellent read.

This very readable book covers the main questions non-Christians ask. The answers are clear and succinct. Readers can dip in and out and select the question they want answered. I leave a copy on my coffee table at home, and a number of visitors have picked it up.The illustrations are very helpful too in reinforcing points made.

I decided to read this one in a hospital waiting room. Or to be more accurate, I bought it on Tuesday and was in the hospital on Wednesday.
Being a collection of the most frequently asked question about God compiled by Paul Williams and Barry Cooper, instinctively I turned straight to question of suffering, and whilst patients were wheeled past, and as doctors rushed to emergencies, Williams and Cooper took me straight to the words of Jesus to explain why the world was in such as mess.
With insight and sensitivity they first explained how belief in God helps make sense of suffering. Next, they showed me that he will one day do away suffering – when Jesus returns to both judge and restore the world. Finally they told me how I can be part of this new and ‘;suffering-free’ world by turning to Jesus – the one who suffered for me on the cross.
Well written and engaging throughout, the issues certainly resonate with the deep questions that all of us have. With chapters on hell, life after death, what to make of other religions and more, it’s a great little book for both encouraging believers, and also showing non-believers that the bible does have real answers to the real questions that they have.
