If there really is something spiritual out there, wouldn't there be some pretty clear signposts to it? Surely God wouldn't leave people with nothing but a bewildering variety of religious voices?
If God exists - wouldn't he have made himself clearer? In the second If I Were God book, John Dickson considers the vast array of spiritual claims made by different religions and individuals and asks whether any clarity about God can be found.
Written from a Christian perspective, this book struggles honestly with a dilemma facing 'believers' and 'unbelievers' alike: With so many religions on offer, can one of them be considered true? Or are they different paths up the same spiritual mountain? And how can any one person sort out their way through the maze of claims?
John Dickson is a bestselling author in Australia and the UK. His warm and humorous style has endeared him to readers, with his ability to tackle complex ideas in a straightforward fashion. John also records and performs as a singer/songwriter, holds degrees in theology and ancient history, and speaks about the Christian message in his native Sydney and beyond. According to him, his finest achievements are marrying Elizabeth and raising Joshua and Sophie.

Excellent - short and very readable for the non-christian
Review by Lesley Metcalfe | 24.01.2008
Highly recommended - carry a few around in your handbag. Not too daunting to give to a non-christian friend as it's short but has excellent references at the back for follow up reading.
Challenging comparisons with: 1)atheists, who are like people kept in a locked room and hypnotised into believing there is nothing beyond what they can see in the room and 2) most other religions which are built on some man's theories rather than Christianity which is founded on the evidence of the empty tomb and Christ' life.
Title refers to the argument that God has, in fact, made himself very clear through his revelation in the person of Jesus.
