Discipleship Explored is for anyone who wants to make the most of their Christian lives, but especially for people who have recently completed an evangelistic course and decided to follow Christ.

Developed by the team behind Christianity Explored and based on the book of Philippians, the course lasts eight weeks, with each session lasting about two hours and has a group discussion, a study in Philippians, short talk and further discussion.

Each participant requires a copy of this Study Guide which includes a Bible reading plan for further study.
Table of Contents

Week 2: Living in Christ (Philippians 1:12-26)

Week 4: Transformed by Christ (Philippians 2:12-30)
Week 5: Righteous in Christ (Philippians 3:1-9)

Other Info
'The material looks outstanding. By providing both the study questions and the eight talk outlines (contained in the Leaders' Manual), the writers have done the hard work for us. Leaders are given good, biblical advice for being an effective discipler along with many useful tips for running the group. Participants benefit from questions that accompany their daily Bible readings. Good handling of Scripture is modelled in the use of Philippians.

Discipleship Explored will prove to be a great way of establishing young believers in the faith and will also serve as a great refresher for more established Christians.'

Excellent Resource
Review by Rev. Dave Skinner | 14.12.2007

I used the material with new Christians who had not yet developed daily habits of Bible reading and prayer. This book/course was very useful in that regard. Some said afterwards that they would have liked a DVD a la CE. However, all bar one participants noted the talk as their best part.

What about an English Made Easy edition???

Excellent study series based on Philippians
Review by Richard Bishop | 22.11.2007

We have been studying this in our church for the last eight weeks and have found it tremendously encouraging. An important factor for its success is study by the whole group, if you don't do the work you will get less out of it.

This followed on from a Christianity Explored course last year (both courses for the whole church) and we wondered whether the lack of a DVD would be an issue, but in fact no one was worried by this - although maybe that is more of a testament to our study leader than anything else.

If you're thinking of running the course in your church, go for it. I have no hesitation in recommending this study.

An excellent resource to help look at what discipleship really is
Review by Sarah Banfield | 13.09.2007

This excellent study guide looks at discipleship through the letter of Paul to the Philippians. It is a great resource for use with new christians and with those who would like to take a fresh look at living the christian life and what it means. The material is presented in a very helpful way with work for each participant to do in their own time. The homework helps the participant to see how the teaching in Philippianns relates to the teaching of the bible as a whole. The leaders guide contains helpful notes for the leader to consider both in preparing for and in leading the group. I have been very blessed and encouraged in seeing people understanding the truth and growing in their confidence in Christ as we have used these resources both in groups and in one to one situations.

Good study material but you need to be prepared to adapt it.
Review by Mike Hillyer | 20.08.2007

Very good study material which we have been able to adapt and use for a large group study and also with individuals.

To follow the course as laid down will require time and commitment from the person leading as well as those attending the course - it's a serious study.

To complete the course in 8 weeks as suggested would be difficult but this should not put you off just extend it to suit those who are taking part.

We are currently running the course once a month for our evening meeting, Once a fortnight at a midweek lunch meeting and then with two different families each week but at a much slower place as their English is not so good.

In summary I would recommend this book/course but be prepared to work in preperation and also as you follow it

excellent resource for new christians to grow in maturity.
Review by Sue Falshaw | 30.04.2007

Excellent resource for a group of new christians helping them to understand the basics of the christian faith and to grow in maturity. The material can be used flexibly and over a longer time frame. The specimen talks on web site are a useful resource for those who are not great public speakers as frameworks for talks are brief. It would be good to have an accompanying set of videos.
