Click Unit 1: 5-7s Child's Component
|

Lots of great ideas to pick from. Although it doesn't quite match up with how we run our morning and the books for the different ages don't always cover the same stories throughout the series, the variety and quality of the resources inspire our helpers.

Excellent study developing the theme of the spread of the Gospel. We are using this whole series and find it just right for our group - only a few children but ages range from 7-12 with 2 older children with special needs. We find we can adapt the ideas or use as many as we have time for. The children quickly get into the habit of the course activity whether it's putting a card in a folder or filling in an activity book. Highly recommended.

Has all the benefits of other Click units - biblical, clear teaching points, easy to use, some good craft/activity ideas. Easy for a team of leaders to use and pass round.
Comments specific to Unit 6:
Child component is 'DVD screens', which the children enjoy, but also find frustrating, as the screens need to be treated gently and many of them have ripped. There is less for the children to do than when they have a workbook, and it is more stressful for the leader trying to rectify bad cutting and sticking, and ripped screens!
Take home sheets with simple puzzles (available for most sessions) are good, and have teaching point on them.

The children love the adventure box and can't wait to see what we will put in it each week.
They keep asking "When can we take them home".

This is in use with our volunteer team here (small rural Anglican parish) and happily puchased once Unit 1 had been successfully used. Once everyone had realised there was too much to do in one session, Click has been a great resource - plenty of ideas and 'pathways' according to your group. It handles the bible confidently, and there are many attractive ways for the children to engage with the bible - e.g. The poster is neat; BIG and shiny, and another surprise for us. The moral is read the book way before the session, and decide what to do and what not.

We are a small congregation in an independent church in a village. Our Sunday School is small & for some time has been using long established teaching materials. When first we introduced Click, the leaders & children had a little difficulty adjusting to the Biblical theological approach. Four months on, however, leaders & children alike have adapted, so much so that the children stay focused throughout the session & leaders are finding the material helpful for their own understanding of Scripture.

I have been using the Click materials for Sunday School in our church for several years now. This church is an English-language international church in Germany. This means I am teaching 'third culture kids', their parents might be from two different countries, Germany may not be their home country, English may not be their mother tongue, etc. I find the Click materials to be very biblically based and adaptable for different ages & backgrounds & size of class.

I especially liked the poster which built up thru the series to produce a crown illustrating God's character.
The swap (collecting?) cards were a good idea and the children enjoyed having a wallet to keep them in.
As usual more ideas than I had time to use but lots of helpful ways to help children remember and respond. Thanks again for your ministry!

Only criticism is that it often presumes you have done everything each week and refers back to it in future weeks. We do however work round about this and would highly recommend the material. Would be useful if every unit followed the same topic throughout the different age ranges.

The boxes are fine and colourful etc, but in components I would value more something for them to take home each week, which make up into something representing that day's text or similar, I felt that I still had all the preparation to do and materials to supply, which is difficult when there are time constraints in preparation and Sunday Club time.

This adventure box is the "envy" of the other Sunday School teachers. The children in our class love them and really enjoy filling them each week.
Our only issue is where to store them during the week and this is particularly a problem for us as we have quite a large group!

Some of the tasks were a bit too difficult for the 5/6's. Cutting felt can be troublesome. The pictures on the storyboard were so colourful, hated to cover some of them up.

Easy to use, child friendly brilliant resource for Sunday Schools!

A good module looking at Genesis in some detail. Strong on bible teaching and the summary leader's notes are helpful for getting into the passage. Click is easy to use once you're used to the format, and works well for us passing the book between leaders. Variety of activities means leaders can pick ones that tailor to their group/space. I felt the child's component (A3 card with pictures - box for each session, meant to be added to each week) was weak for this module. We bought, but haven't used them.

I like Click & started to use it as it was a follow on to another set of materials from down under called Trowel. It was Biblical, systematic & always had good craft & activity ideas. It is helpful if other groups use Click as well so you can be sure the teaching is consistant through the ages. Often the lesson part was too long but I abreviated this to meet the needs of the room, children & time constraints & tried to get across one or two key points that were outlined in the material.

As ever, Click materials provided me with far more than I could use, which meant I could choose the activities that fitted best with my small group of 5 and 6 year-olds.
I very much enjoy the interactive nature of the material, the straightforward way the passage is presented and the inspired ways the children are helped to remember what they learn.
The only down-side on this occasion was the amount of writing involved in the workbooks especially for one new boy (who missed the adventure box take home and would have loved that!) who definitely was not keen on writing!
All in all well worth investing in. Thank you the CLICK team!

As someone who has to plan a Sunday school lesson almost every week, I really appreciate the way this series helps me do that with lots of good ideas for games and activities and story telling. I noticed today how much brighter and more interesting my 'classroom' looks since I started using Click, with all the posters and visual aids which come with the leaders pack. I do feel the story is usually a bit too involved for my fidgetty infants, and I have to precis it down quite a lot, but apart from that, I can't fault it!

Very thorough-well structured and set out. Brilliant craft ideas and photocopiable resources.

Excellent material. Step by step guide through the lesson which gives confidence to less experienced leaders. Good biblical teaching with games and craft elements. Found that 5-7 material detailed enough for older children who don't have wide bible knowledge.

very useful tool, especially for new leaders who are unsure at what level to pitch the story for their age group. each session is faithful to the Bible passage.

What I like:
The child's component
Lots of suggestions for activities
A photocopiable activity sheet for every week.
The extras - nice posters to display in the classroom
What I like less:
Tends to try and push too many concepts into one lesson. The story can be a bit too wordy for the younger members.
How I use it (bear in mind I'm only on week three!):
Write my own adaptation of the Bible story (pirating any particularly good bits from the one in the leaders guide!)and devise my own visual aids for telling it. Then enjoy the fact that everything else for a good lesson can be comfortably pulled straight from the leaders guide with minimum shopping, effort or planning!

We have been using Click at St. Nicholas Tooting for the last 18 months and have found it to be a great resource. I am very thankful to the writers and God for it.
It takes great care to correctly handle the word of truth, adding/subtracting from the bible only where necessary for clarity of the main teaching points and aims.
It has loads of ideas and material for each individual lesson, so you can pick and choose to your own style/situation. However they all try to reinforce the main teaching points which is a great help.
Do give it a try!

Very pleased with the material - we were looking for sound biblical material with fun activities to do and this fits the bill. We feel that the age range given for the material is perhaps not a good guide if your children do not already have a sound bible background. We use the 5-7yr old material for 8,9 yr olds and it isn't too young for them

really useful tool for teaching. makes Biblical truths very easy to explain and picks out improtant parts of passage to teach. gives creative ways of teaching.

All of the leaders of our childrens group agree that the Click leaders pack is a very useful resource from which we can base our weekly class. We can pick and choose which activities are most suitable to our group knowing that we have a common thread running through from week to week.

This has the potential to be great, but much of it was just beyond our group who were Reception (some admittedly only 4) to Yr 2 age. May be it's different in Australia but most children don't really get confident with writing until Yr 1 at the earliest. This made many of the pages inaccessible for our group, which was a shame. We did love the teaching material in the main manual though!

As with the other Click material we have used, lots of helpful and varied ideas. Thoroughly biblical and each outline keeps to its stated aims.
We like choosing the material which fits our group best, and our group is actually 7 - 9 year olds. The active nature of the activities in this Click Unit suit our lively characters well, but of course some of the material is inappropriate for them. We can usually adapt it fairly easily, though
