1 John: How To Be Sure
|

We are using this book in a group of very new Christians and have found it very useful. The questions are provocative enough to spark good discussions, but not so in depth as to discourage someone with little Bible knowledge.

this is the third of these work books which I have worked through the first as part of my confirmation class, this one I have worked on with a small group but mainly on my own For me the overwhelming message which came through from this work book is John telling us that God through Christ Loves us, and that to be in Christ is to love one another. very good for new Christians like myself.

We have taken 12 new Christians through this book study and found it very helpful for new beleivers yet 'meaty' and practical enough for established believers. There were many talking points that helped to bring the message of 1 John home to the heart. Good job!

Having done Christianity Explored with a mixed group of Christians and those not there yet, I was looking for something very clear on th gospel that would raise key issues about true Christianity. I was not disappointed. Clear with good questions this really helped, particularly a Polish man coming from a Roman Catholic background.

We used this as a home group bible study and generally we found the guide helpful, but it was as though we were being patronised / 'preached at' at times. This was in terms of making sure we interpreted verses in the way the authors wanted us to, rather than just exploring them & leaving us to make up our own minds - which we are perfectly capable of doing! Although we didn't find anything offensive, we won't be choosing a good book co. guide next time.

I have been using this in conjucntion with preparation for teaching. I liked the way the studies were divided and partciularly how the main teaching points were identified and applied helping to keep the main points in focus. The format works well and there are different degrees of depth and application. I found that I needed the leaders guide to help guide me in some of the questions, however it was partcularly helpful to me and summarised consisely much of what I had read in commentaries. So I rate this highly.

We have just finished using this study guide in our fellowship groups. It has certainly helped us in provoking challenging discussions that have given us a deeper understanding of the issues that John writes about. Having assurance is vitally important in our modern world - no less that in New Testament times. This study guide has encouraged us in this.

I have found this study book very enjoyable and helpful, the questions make you think and ponder, also makes you search further in the subject which is always good.

This was my first ever purchase from the GoodBook Company; what a hit! The bible study group I lead have loved this book from the very start! It has provoked some great discussion, and some very insightful study. We are a group of nine couples, aged 30-50, and everyone has been really postive in their feedback. We will certianly choose more from this set of studies; a great balance between study and application and still room for prayer.
